Raw Milk Shares

How it all works

You purchase your share a $5.00 one time fee and pay a monthly boarding fee. Monthly boarding fees are $26.00

That entitles you to 4 gallons unpasteurized raw milk per month. 1/2 share are $13.00 monthly and entitles you to 2 gallons of milk per month.

It's ends up being about the same price as buying pasturized organic milk at the health food stores.

We are located on the Florida Mesa in Durango, Colorado.

Nativo is a private farm and requires an appointment to sign up. You then pick your milk up on your scheduled days.

About Our Cows & Goats

Our cows are hay & grass fed and given a small amount of specialized grain mixture. We feel that a small amount of this grain combination is both safe and necessary while milking. Our animals receive no antibiotics unless absolutly necessary. If an animal has to receive medications you will be notified immediatly and milk will not be available from that animal. We never use hormones or steroids. We know the way to keep your animals healthy by providing a healthy environment for the cow. If treatment ever becomes necessary we take a holistic approach first using herbal non toxic remedies. We are not certified organic but better! Certifed organic may not be all you think it is. We're a small family farm, keeping the number of animals small allows us to give them more specialized care and attention.

How We Milk And Process

We milk daily between 8:00am – 11:30am. Our animals are Machine milked to avoid any contamination. Milk is immediatly filtered / bottled and chilled below 42 degrees for optimal flavor.

Milk Bottles

A $5.00 per bottle deposit is required on all bottles!

Nativo provides the customer with glass bottles. The bottles must be cleaned by the customer and returned so they can be refilled. (We recommend that bottles be cleaned with hot soapy water and air dried. Leaving the lid on after containers that have been emptied will cause bacteria growth.

We do not fill dirty bottles!! Please keep lids off of clean bottles!

Milk Availability and Delays

Since we are a small farm with a limited number of animals there may be times when your milk is delayed. There are certain situations where holistic medication may not be effective enough. If we decide that an animal must receive an antibiotic that animal will be taken off the milking line until all medications have cleared her system. This could cause a delay in your milk delivery.

Dairy animals are very sensitive. milk production can go up and down. There may be days where milk is delayed as a result of these cycles. You will always be notified of any delays or changes.

Payments
